Wifi drama's?

Is anyone experiencing any dropout's with their Wifi on the iPhone 5? Every few minutes, my phone will turn from Wifi to 3G for no reason. The router is fine, my GF, my mum and my laptop are connected to it and are all fine.

Not only does it drop out, it also seems to forget it's password and if I have to connect again, I need to re-enter the Wifi password? I've been away from iPhone's for 6 months or so, but this seems rather strange.

I've reset my network settings, forgotten and readded the network again, reset my router. Anyone else having drama's similar to this?

Also note that I'm in a completely covered 4G (LTE) area and I have not seen my phone show LTE all day. It's only shown 3G

Re: Wifi drama's?

Yes many people are having the same issue. Mine connects fine, i just get no/intermittent data access.

Pretty frustrating having to blow LTE data just to get up and running....

Re: Wifi drama's?

Hey, at least you can get LTE. Mine only connects to 3G.

However, I did notice with the Wifi, if you manually enter the details it's fine. I manually entered the SSID and password for my router last night and it's still connected now. Usually it would last 2-3 minutes, so if anyone's having those drama's, manually enter the details

Re: Wifi drama's?

To clarify - I've hooked my iPhone up to my home and a relatives wireless network, and neither have dropped. I noticed that when I turned the phone on after it had been off for a bit (on standby) that it had to switch to Wireless, I think it disables the wireless after a period of inactivity.

4G is a different story. It appears the phone doesn't hand up to LTE if it drops, it stays on 3G. I'm not sure why it does this, I'm going to put a case into Telstra to see if I can get a network Engineer to investigate and I'm going to log a case with AppleCare to see if this is an Apple issue.

Re: Wifi drama's?

Logged a Bug with Apple for the 4G LTE not connecting properly, Bug is 12353216.

If you try a Network Reset and are unable to get this working, please come back and let us know.

Re: Wifi drama's?

Thanks for your help. I went onto the Telstra Website and checked the actual coverage area, I was going by what the Telstra rep was telling me over the phone, she said my whole area was covered for 4G. After going and looking for myself, I noticed it's not yet 4G capable area, but nearby areas are which tells me that I shouldn't be too far away from getting 4G in my area?

The Wifi thing has been resolved. I just manually entered the SSID of my router and it has stuck to my Wifi since. I'm EXTREMELY happy with my phone and service.

Thanks again
