Am having trouble setting up 'other mail account' for bigpond emails on my Nokia N9 Mobile.
When I first setup the 'other mail account' it said it was successful but everytime I try to access my
emails it keeps erroring out and asking for my password.
Have set USERNAME: username@bigpond.com
Password: as in Bigpond account setup
POP3 server: mail.bigpond.com
Secure connection: none
Port: 110
SMTP server: mail.bigpond.com
Secure connection: none
Port: 25
Even followed the instructions given at http://www.configure.telstra.com.au/telstra/ota_se
I,m sure that there is only a minor tweak needed somewhere, so any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
My regards

Can you please Click here (Login Required) and check the mail settings that come up. You could be on the new Windows Live Platform (in which case the instructions are different).

Hi Ben_F
Thank you for your reply. On login it came up with these settings
Bigpond/Telstra Service (i.e. ADSL, HFC, Mobile Broadband)
- Incoming POP server: pop3.live.com
- Incoming POP mail: port 995
- Outgoing SMTP server: smtp.live.com
- Outgoing SMTP port: 587 (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
- Incoming uses SSL: On (this is required)
- Outgoing uses SSL: On (this is required)
- Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP) authentication: Same as incoming mail server
On using these settings I could receive mail but not send a test.
With trial and error I changed some settings to
Outgoing SMTP server: mail.bigpond.com
Outgoing SMTP port; 25
Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP): set to none
and would you believe it worked. So thankyou very much for pointing me in right direction.
Regards HayDavo
