Loving the Sense 6 on the HTC One (M7) anyone figured out how to move the time down on lock screen stuck on top now?

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

The HTC One update downloaded and installed without a hitch, but why oh why do they (probably Google) feel the need to keep changing icon colours etc?

And why are black areas in photos showing up magenta in low light? (This is not new, the previous version did it too).

I'd like to know more about this too. It's been an issue for so long.

I'm on a 4g S3 (I9305T) so I guess I'd like to know if this is coming with the kitkat update (already deployed around the world) or just as a bug fix.

Or is this another Telstra crap talking moment? This update is 6 months overdue.

I hope we will be able to finally unlock (and move) the Permanent Touchwiz buttons on the home page on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

"Samsung have delayed test submission to 13 June" - Is this relating to the recent bug fixes found in Kitkat 4.4.3???http://www.neowin.net/news/nexus-owners-report-numerous-bugs-in-bug-fixing-android-443-update

The I9305 and I9305T have not been updated beyond 4.3 and 4.3 is stilll JellyBean.  Kitcat is 4.4 and has not been deployed around the world on the Galaxy S3

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

Dear Telstra Support Folks,

How come there is no mention of the Galaxy S4 i9505 in any of your update threads lately?? Are we to assume that the i9505 is not going to get a further update anytime soon?

FYI both Optus and Vodafone have the i9505 on their list as recieving the 4.4 update in mid to late June.

Could you please give us the official word on what the status is for Teltra i9505 owners.

Hi SirDJ,

It Galaxy S4 hasn't been in the update threads because we don't have information available at this stage. Keep an eye out for our next update to see if more details are available then

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

I seriously cannot believe that Blackberry devices are receiving updates and Motorola devices are not. Motorola devices are not even mentioned.

I am still waiting for an update for my Motorola Razr HD XT925. By the time an official Telstra update comes, my contract will probably be over and it will be time for me to upgrade. I just hope whatever phone I upgrade to gets more attention than the poor Motorola family of devices.

This has been one long disappointment Telstra, you should really be ashamed at your lack of customer support for an otherwise great product (the XT925). I have resisted loading a custom mod for fear of voiding warranty, but I'm beginning to question that!

As a company, you can't just be relying on having the best network. Step up! As customers become more tech savvy, you'll have to adjust to accomodate them. Tech savvy customers know that there is an update available for their phones (news from Motorola themselves) and are aware of all the features and enhancements the updates will bring. And yet, here we are stuck on outdated buggy software.

#endrant

So, is there a release date for any Motorola device?

Hi LexVanNetten,

This area is the right area to check for any upgrades that may come for your handset. Unfortunately I don't have any information that you can't see already here in this thread. If any future updates occur for this handset they will be documented within this forum.

I was told by samsung that there is an OS upgrade for the Galaxy S2 4G from IceCreamSandwich to Jellybean. I am wondering if telstra is working on implementing this upgrade and if so, when it will happen. The galaxy 2 3g was done last year!!

Hi Sean31,

All handset updates will be posted in threads such as this. I'd suggest monitoring these threads to see if any future updates are scheduled for your device.

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

"see if any future updates are scheduled" ...

As best I'm aware there's been *one* update delivered BY TELSTRA for the XT925 since I got mine nearly 2 years ago. In that time Motorola has released new versions, and Google has released many new versions of Android. Including (as of today) an update to address the Heartbleed bug
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/06/android-4-4-4-is-rolling-out-to-devices-contains-openssl-fix/

The post from three weeks ago (http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/Device_Updates/message-id/6777)  said that Telstra's target is July. That's ok, but Telstra's habit of being utterly opaque about anything else relating to Motorola updates makes the idea of unlocking the bootloader, rooting and then flashing a custom rom veryvery appealing.

This repeated behaviour from Telstra makes it very like that my next mobile device is not going to be acquired on a Telstra plan, but purchased outright in an unlocked state.

For post-sale support, you're not doing well at all.

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

While reviewing some elements of my overnight inbox which included automated test suite results for our products I began to wonder: when Telstra "tests" a new Android release from a device manufacturer, is that automated or manual testing?

How long does it take to run through your test suites for handsets?

I agree with McBofh. Telstra first say the Motorola XT925 will get the KitKat update next month, now a Telstra member posts there is no word on the update. Which one is it?

My XT925 is probably the best mobile I've had in a long time, unfortunately the device was not marketed as good as the Samsung and HTC devices and was left in the dark. Now your pre-sale support for the device is absolulely garbage.

As McBofh also mentioned, due to this experience my next device will be purchased outright and will more than likely be a Nexus or Moto-X device to avoid your uselessness. You could at least provide 2 years support as per contract we signed. All you are doing is waiting till the device reaches 2 years so you can pull that poor excuse out. This device is no longer supported.

There won't be much happening for motorola for months i reckon. Lenovo bought motorola mobility and zebra bought the enterpise side.

Pretty sure that moto themselves don't even know whats happening yet.

Cmon Telstra! Motorola have had it confirmed on their website for months that the Telstra Razr HD will be getting updated to Kit Kat yet Telstra don't seem to be able to find any information about it. Can someone at Telstra pick up the phone, ring Motorola and ask where the update is and actually get moving on it???

Is there any update with the Galaxy Note 3 update? It just says scheduling and Samsung have delayed test submission to the 13th June.... that was 12 days ago. A bit of a further update would be nice.

As soon as we have information, we'll update the device update thread.

Once we receive, we do extensive testing to ensure this works correctly on our network.

If any issues are found, it's sent back to the manufacturer to work out the bugs.

It's now more than 6 months since Windows Phone 8.1 [Cyan] was released - Telstra is not normally so slow in passing through Windows Phone updates.  Surely you can give us SOME idea of when Telstra Lumia customers will see Cyan?

From what I have read the Developer version was released some months ago to those that registered to receive this and it has had some updates to them.

The general release of Cyan aka Blue has just started for new models and am expecting to get it for my Nokia 920 sometime in July

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

Waiting for the Sony update. Expected release date was 17 June and status says: "Approved - waiting for deployment".

Sony released KitKat 4.4.4 for Z1 compact over the weekend and would be great to know if this was the planned Telstra release? I understand the Sony release was in selected countries but perhaps Telstra had to wait for the Sony release before Telstra could release?

Facing numerous bugs in current version Z1 Compact 4.4.2 and not happy (bluetooth bugs which hopefully get fixed, PIN security bug using ActiveSync are the main two).

Can someone please advise an update to the Teltra release for Sony please?

Thanks in hope.

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

I love how the moderators na dtech head use a generic scripting like "we dont have the information yet" or "waiting on the supplier" and finally the creme of the crop "Check the updates thread for more information".

Telstra staying true to its incompetent customer service standard. The information is online and for a telecommunications company you are seriously failing in the ability to source this information on your own and rather adopting the "we'll wait for it to be supplied to us" mentality.

Why not go out there and apply some pressure to have updates supplied at a more reasonable time frame. Work for your customer's. If ypu applied the same effort as you do "shoving" contracts & deals down our throats you may juat get a better customer satisfaction rate.

But until then you're still known as the teleco company with the best network and worst customer service and all the while being the most expensive. Pretty much like a low budget machanic that overcharges

Why do you still ignore WP. You have had WP handsets for a few years now but you still do not give enough support. Where is the info on the WP8.1 Update. Can't believe that you do not have it dor testing. You just announced a WP8.1 handset(Lumia 930) but what about existing customers on existing handsets? L920, L1020 etc.

Please inform us of the status for the next WP update. WP8.1

Hey Boggles,

Understand your frustrations for sure and we can only report on the device upgrades that we have received for testing. Once this does change we will have this thread updated with what updates are being worked on. I hope that the WP update is received asap so we can have this provided to all customers.

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

Supposedly it is when these 8.1 handsets are available that the Telco's will receive the update for older handsets... I'm guessing a month at least after the 930 hits peoples pockets Telstra will start testing... Given past experience that testing process should drag on for a couple more months or so... If they push it out at all?? Maybe they think it makes people want to buy a new handset... with them.. to speed up the process?? Lol.. Reality is it just p*sses people off... I'm still waiting on the 7.8 update for my old HTC radiant... When it wasn't pushed out after over 6 months of numerous complaints and phone calls, (being told it was available) I just brought a new Nokia from one of the competitors... Cost me but, it cost Telstra as well..
P.S Try not to take your anger out on the good folks here though, they give info here on their own time and what you do with that info is your call.. Really :smileywink:

Re: Handset Software Updates 13/06/2014

I have had Nokia handsets for the last two decades probably 15 of them. Two years ago I had the N8 model with the Belle OS. Fantastic with all the functions I needed.

Early last year I bought Nokia 920 outright and it was expensive. Over that time in my opinion WP has been trying to catch up with Belle. It still lacks some functions Belle has such as Remote Sim Function, which means I can't connect to my German car.

WP 8.1 needs to catch up to the others IMHO.

Why is it that the Kit Kat 4.4.4 update which was supposedly deployed on 11 June is still not finding it's way to my S5 Galaxy ? It's disappointing to get the newest flagship from Samsung and then be let down on software by the carrier. I wish we coud get updates direct from Samsung these guys are a joke in my opinion.:smileymad:
