Given the apparent response from Motorola re: 4.2 for the RAZR HD coming later in the year, can we get some official word on its progress? Would be much appreciated.. :smileyhappy:

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

I received an update notice for what appears to be a minor update (68MB) on the Galaxy S3 4G this morning.
I updated and it changed the baseband version from I9305TDVBLL3 to I9305TDVBME1
As well as the kernel version.
It's not listed in the above update, can anyone shed some light on what it was for?
My partners Galaxy S3 3G has been locking up at random intervals at least 4 or 5 times a day for the past 3 weeks. She went to do a search for new software this morning and it froze again. Will the S3 3G model get this update as well?

Hope this helps...

http://androidromupdate.com/2013/06/17/telstra-galaxy-s3-4glte-gets-new-4-1-2-jelly-bean-update/

Actually on second glance, it doesn't help sorry. I run the update and then at the 31% install mark I get a picture of a droid on its back with a red error sign above it, phone restarts and it says to update via Keis or Samsung service centre.

Guess I'll try it when I get home on Keis.

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

So we are now told that telstra has recived the update for the HTC titan 4G on the "'14th June" after request after request to get more information. The note that as been posted in there schedule since th 11th of March that they have been doing second round testing has been a complete lie!!! Looking at dates we are probably not going to get the update to late July / early August almost half a year later then expected. Telstra you need to do a better job of informing customers. Lack of and false information in not how to look after your customers. I bet telstra will not even reply to post as they have not replied to any of my previous requests for information.

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

Nice. More handsets locked to Telstra. More money to Telstra when customers go overseas and need to get their mobiles unlocked to be able to use an overseas SIM card instead of paying inflated roaming prices!

I'll be damned if I pay an unlocking fee for a mobile that is more than 2 years old! Any phone that is more than 12 months old should be unlocked FREE OF CHARGE!!!

The same applies to the Wi-Fi internet devices. First of all, I'll be damned if I talk to someone in the Philippines and provide them with not only personal information, but also my credit card details! ALL CALL CENTRES MUST BE RETURNED TO AUSTRALIA!

Further, I'll be damned if I pay $100 to unlock a 3G Wi-Fi device that is no longer sold by phone outlets under the Telstra brand!

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

What sort of phone do you have Trubell? I've had 4 phones from Telstra in 3 years and none have been sim locked, in fact we added a 2nd phone (galaxy S3) to my account for my fiance in October and straight out of the box she was able to use her Optus sim (as she had to keep it active for 3 months until her contract expired).

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

Hi Trubell,

The majority of our postpaid services are unlocked and able to be used with any SIM card, the exception being the iPhone, however for our postpaid customers we unlock these for no charge.

In regards to Pre-Paid services, these are locked to Telstra, and there is a fee of up to $150.00 to unlock them within the first 6 months of network activation, however after the first 6 months they can be unlocked for $27.50.

If you'd like to have a device unlocked and you don't wish to provide Credit Card information, you can recharge up to the value of the cost of unlocking the device, and we can remove the payment from your balance, rather than get your Credit Card information.

Generally our branded Pre-Paid devices are sold at a reduced cost, so that's why there is a charge to unlock them. As an example Mobile Broadband. When we first released 4G, we charged $149 for a Pre-Paid 4G WiFi device, and our post-paid customers had to pay up to $299.00 if they wanted the device outright.

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

I can confirm that the official 4.2.2 for Xperia Z is working fine on my Telstra handset, haven't had a glitch at all. :-)

Seems to be smoother than previous versions. Similiar to custom 4.2.2 also.

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

[ Edited ]

@KeithCohenThe firmware updates for the international Galaxy Nexus have no bearing on the Telstra Galaxy Nexus, as that handset is governed by Samsung NOT Google. According to Vodafone, Samsung have commited to delivering 4.2.1 to Vodafone at some point in the future (they have been waiting a few months now for an release time frame from Samsung), as for Telstra I have no idea. The Galaxy Nexus has been missing from the update list for a while now, it could be only Vodafone is getting this update but hopefully not! (fingers crossed Telstra is just waiting for a date before releasing the info).

@CraigR,

In this update (which is still the most recent, as far as I can tell), you said that the expected approval date for the Xperia Z update was 01/07/2013, but that date has passed without any change to the comments... Do you have any new information for us? :smileyhappy:

The update for the HTC Titan 4G should be made a priority, the waiting is unacceptable, Damaging the brand, when it is Telstra holding it up!

What has happened to the updates with Telstra recently? Even Vodafone can update people on a regular basis... Telstra is being left behind in the customer service race...

Craig,

Where is the Samsung SII 4G?

It seems strange that it still does not have an update since ICS was so unstable.....

Surely Telstra cannot be that slow in getting software out....!!!

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

those seeking an update on the Sony Xperia should refer to Craigs latest update from today http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Device-Updates/Handset-updates-18-July/m-p/172438#M3792

you should be contacting Sony support as it appears it is Sony now delaying the roll out of the update, not Telstra.

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

Please provide a contact number for Sony and I will happily chase them up and harass them.

Do I take it that it is finished and ready to be pushed onto our handsets now then and it is Sony who has to push this down to us?

Re: Handset updates - 17 June

I don't own a Sony handset so I couldn't provide you with those details.

There would be a contact number in the user manual which should have come with the phone.

Failing that, a 30 second Google Search located this page, which should be of assistance for you:-
