Hi All,
A few quick updates before the holiday break:
- The Android Jelly Bean update for the HTC One XL was approved by Telstra on 24 December.
- The Android Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S 3 was approved by Telstra on 19 December and commenced deployment on the same day.
- The Android Jelly Bean update for the Motorola RAZR HD is now deploying.
Now for the bad news. A new and potentially serious issue (unfortunately I can’t share the details of the issue in this forum) with the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is under investigation. Due to the impact of the Christmas period these investigations are now on hold until the new year – I will provide more information as to status in week commencing 14 January 2013.
The next general update will be provided Friday 18 January 2013.
Update status for this week*:
| Handset | Update | Status | Expected test rounds | Expected approval date | Expected customer availability date | Notes |
| Nokia N8 | PR 3.1 "Belle Refresh" | Now available | 2 | 15/11/2012 | 29/11/2012 | Now deploying as a FOTA update and via the Nokia Software Update tool |
| Samsung Galaxy S2 4G | Android 4.0 ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ update | Now available | 2 | 26/11/2012 | 14/12/2012 | Now deploying as a FOTA update and via the "Kies" desktop software |
| Samsung Galaxy Nexus | Android 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ update | First round testing | 1 | TBC | TBC | Test submission received and currently in test. Unfortunately a potentially serious issue has been identified which is still under investigation. Approval and deployment dates are now "TBC". |
| HTC One XL | Android 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ update | Approved by Telstra - waiting for deployment by vendor | 1 | 24/12/2012 | 24/12/2012 | Telstra approved on 24 December. |
| HTC One S | Android 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ update | Waiting for initial vendor submission | 2 | TBC | TBC | HTC have delayed the submission of this update until early 2013. |
| Samsung Galaxy S3 | Android 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ update | Second round testing | 2 | 19/12/2012 | 19/12/2012 | Now deploying as a FOTA update and via the "Kies" desktop software |
| Sony Xperia U | Android 4.0 ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ update | Approved by Telstra - waiting for deployment by vendor | 2 | 13/12/2012 | TBC | Approved ahead of schedule. Deployment dates TBC but likely to be before end of year |
| Motorola RAZR HD | Android 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ update | Approved by Telstra - waiting for deployment by vendor | 2 | 3/12/2012 | 17/12/2012 | Now deploying |
| Motorola RAZR M | Android 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ update | First round testing | 2 | 28/01/2013 | 8/02/2013 | Test submission received and currently in test |
* - Although accurate at time of publishing these dates are subject to change

Can I make the assumtpion that the 3G varient of the Galaxy S2 is at this point considered outdated and won't be getting non-cruicial updates?

I consider 4.0.4 to be crucial. I don't care about 4.1 anymore, since I'm switching to the Galaxy Note II.

Another quick this, it has a power saving feature now that limits brightness, cpu and data so will hopefuly help people who don't like the battery life, though I think it fine personally.
Thank you Telstra and Htc :-)
