Handset updates - 29 October

Hi all,

A few changes for this week. Unfortunately Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” update for the HTC Desire S  has been cancelled by HTC and as such this device will not be receiving any further platform updates. HTC have also delayed the submission of the Android “Jelly Bean” 4.1 update for the HTC One XL and HTC One S. We are now expecting submissions in the first half of November.

Unfortunately Samsung have further delayed the Samsung Galaxy S2 4G Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”  and Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean”  submissions. I have created a separate thread to deal with this delay here.

The Nokia N8 PR 3.1 "Belle Refresh" is on track for an approval today which should see it deploying within 10 business days.

That’s all for this week. As always let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

If you don't like Telstra's updates and the time it takes to test handsets, you can always go on XDA and flash a custom firmware on your device. It's warranty-killing and may cause problems with your device, however if you know what you're doing you can really make the most of your handset that way.

I love having a macro for this:

Reminder - Performing unauthorised software upgrades on your Mobile Phone may cause irrepairable damage to your device, and may void your warranty. If you don't know what you are doing, it is recommended that you wait for an appproved update

Takes a few weeks for each test round, so the answer is no.

Be thankful your not one of the S2 4G owners who are usally on here screaming blue murder when their update gets delayed (for a fair reason me thinks).

I'd already made mention of that. Albeit not so stand-out-ish as what you posted.
