Customers on our new Windows Live platform will be able to use their BigPond account to sync with the cloud.
The Basic Version
Windows 8 Mail will work with the following email accounts: Hotmail / Windows Live, Outlook.com, Office 365, Exchange Active sync, Google mail services and IMAP4 email service. This includes customers who have a BigPond account powered by Windows Live.
We're currently migrating BigPond email accounts to Windows® Live, however until this program is completed we recommend accessing your BigPond email account with the following methods:
1. Using Webmail click here. Webmail is available when you visit bigpond.com and log in via Webmail or MyAccount using your BigPond username and password.
2. Download a 3rd party email program to manage your Pop email account/s.
3. If using Windows 8 (not RT), install Windows® Live in the desktop view, set up a new Windows® Live account and direct your BigPond emails to be accessed via your new account.
The Expanded Vesion
What is the benefits of using the cloud?
The Windows 8 uses the cloud to store many of the settings, preferences, and apps associated with your account which allows this information to be accessed across multiple computers when using the same login.
Your friends’ contact info and status automatically stay up to date from places like Hotmail, Outlook, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
You can get to and share your photos, documents, and other files from places like SkyDrive, Facebook, and Flickr.
You can buy and download apps from the Windows Store, and use them on up to five PCs running Windows 8 or Windows RT.
Your personal settings are automatically synced online and between the Windows 8 and Windows RT PCs you use. This includes stuff like your themes, language preferences, browser favorites and history, and content for Microsoft apps and services.
You may prefer to use other Microsoft accounts such as Messenger, Hotmail or Xbox LIVE.
What does this have to do with Windows 8 Mail?
Windows 8 requires an account to be used to manage your cloud services and will update the native Mail program with those same details and will support the following email account types to be added:
Hotmail / Windows Live, Outlook.com, Office 365, Exchange Active sync, Google mail services and IMAP4 email services
