My phone has been hacked

When using my Windows 8 phone someone seems to take it over and has tried to delete text messages, navigates to my email account and calendar etc.  All of this happens while I am using the phone and I have to try and turn the phone off before anything gets deleted or sent or just read by whoever is doing this.

I've googled this issue and have found others have experienced this too but the answer is always that it's a fault with the last upgrade.  If that is the case then why can I watch someone type a text message, add a calendar entry or attempt to delete things until I can get it turned off.  Doesn't sound like a technical issue but seems as though someone has somehow hacked my phone and using it.

How will Telstra help me with this?

I have thought of getting a new phone and number but am unfortunately still in contract so will be expensive.

Can someone advise please as it's a bit scary.

Re: My phone has been hacked

Hi,

That's very strange. I am not sure what would be causing it however if you haven't already it might not be a bad idea to perform a factory reset on your phone so that you can make sure any settings on your phone which is allowing access are removed. I'll also ask one of my mobiles specialists to stop by this thread when they are back tomorrow to see if there is anything more that they can add

Re: My phone has been hacked

Hi,

As Ashley mentioned, my first suggestion would be to factory reset the handset if you haven't done so already. If the issue continues after a factory reset I would suggest taking it into a Telstra Store to show them what is happening so we can get to the bottom of it for you.

Re: My phone has been hacked

Hi Ashley, won't a factory reset mean that I will lose quite a bit off my phone?  I am happy to do this if it will solve the problem just need to know what I might lose so that I can note what I might need to re-add.

Yes you'll lose everything off your phones memory. I would suggest backing everything up.
