Mobile Data Usage Feature

What is the Mobile Data Usage feature?

Mobile Data Usage allows you to view an estimate of your current data usage included with your Post-Paid mobile plan or Data Pack.

 

You can access this service if you have an eligible Post-Paid mobile plan that includes a data allowance and/or a Data Pack.

 

Please Note: Data usage while overseas is not included in your plan allowance so you won't receive the 50%, 85% and 100% alerts for overseas usage.

 

How do I access the Mobile Data Usage feature?

Mobile Data Usage can be accessed from your handset using the Telstra 24x7 App by selecting "My Usage", and then the service in question. Alternatively you can head to m.bigpond.com from the browser on your mobile device, and select the "My" tab.

 

From your browser log in to My Account (telstra.com/myaccount)and select the service you'd like to view from the "Plans and Usage" tab. Click "Data Usage" or "Shared Data Usage" from the list on the right. 

 

Is there any cost to use the Mobile Data Usage feature?

There are no additional costs to use Mobile Data Usage (on your handset) or receive SMS or email usage alerts.

 

Can I check another mobile service usage from my mobile phone?

When accessing the Mobile Data Usage from m.bigpond.com, usage information is only available for that service. Multiple services are only viewable online via My Account or the Telstra 24x7 app.

 

Please Note: You'll need to be registered for My Account in order to view your usage.

 

How long after I use my data will it appear on my Mobile Data Usage?

Usage information is typically displayed six hours after the mobile data session has ended. This should be used as a guide only. We're working towards minimising this delay.

 

Does the Mobile Data Usage feature have usage alerts?

Yes, one of the great features of Mobile Data Usage is the automated usage alerts which are sent when you exceed 50%, 85% and 100% of your included and /or Data Pack allowance, used in Australia. There are charges to receive these alerts.

 

The SMS alerts are automatically activated for customers on eligible post-paid plans and/or have a Data Pack.

 

When will the Mobile Data Usage alerts be sent to my phone?

The SMS alerts will be sent when you've reached 50%, 85%  and 100% of your allocated monthly data allowance. The usage info in the SMS alerts are typically current as of six hours ago but will not show usage for current sessions.

 

Please note that Mobile Data Usage SMS alerts should be used as a guide only and will not prevent you from exceeding your usage limit. You must check your bill for a full list of actual charges.

 

How do I deactivate the Mobile Data Usage alerts?

You can opt out of alerts all together, or change the alerts from SMS to email from the same page from which you view your usage, in My Account.

 

To disable the SMS alerts, send a text with "notice.off" to 176 (SMS charges apply).
