New and renovated houses

I'm building a new house. What do I need to move my service there? When building a new home, it's usually necessary to dig a trench for lead-in cabling. Under our policy, whenever practical, underground (rather than aerial) lead-in cables will be installed.

Ensure the internal wiring to your first phone socket is installed before you start lining your internal walls. Once the walls are finished, you can arrange for a Telstra-approved contractor to fit the socket before getting your phone service connected. The cost of this first socket is included in your installation fee. Any contractor work is in addition to this cost.

Additional phone points can be installed by your Telstra-approved contractor or any registered licensed cabler. Large buildings with multiple outlets may also need a distributor. If that is the case, the distributor will be your Network Boundary Point.

Contact us on 1800 895 319 before you begin construction. We'll put you in touch with a Telstra-approved contractor who can explain what's involved at each stage.
