Apple Subscription error when trying to redeem.

I have tried to redeem my Apple Itunes sub but it faults and just says 'OPPS'. When I open the Apple app and click on the Join via Telstra it comes up no active subscription. Any ideas how to get it to work would be good. Spoke with someone from Telstra and they said my Apple id needs to be the same as my phone id??? Is this correct. Tried to change but still not working.
