FTTP Phone connection?

Answered

I have just had a FTTP connection completed. I have the Smart modem Gen 2. When I was on ADSL I had the same modem and the phone connected to the phone port, though now believe I use the DSL port. Is this correct? And what are the handset requirements? Thanks.

Re: FTTP Phone connection?

On FTTP, you plug the WAN port of the modem in to the UNI-D1 port of the NBN NTD.

You then plug your phone in to the green phone port of the modem, and you should be up and running.

If you have a corded phone, or a cordless phone that has a base station, then these both work via the Green port method. You can also get cordless handsets that wirelessly (DECT) connect to the modem. Make sure that any cordless phone that you get works using DECT 2.0 (DECT 6.0 is not compatible - unless it has its' own base station plugged in to the Green Phone port).

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
