Moving from cable to nbn (hfc)

Answered

Hi, I recently received a letter from Telstra advising I needed to move to NBN but could retain the same plan. I arranged to have this done but the first order was completed with an incorrect address entered and I was left with no service for several weeks. After complaining, a new order was generated. The move has now been completed and my service is up and working.

The first bill shows a nbn connection fee, and my bundle contract period has a new start date. I was told the current plan and contract would simply transfer across. I was also told that there was no cost involved in moving my existing Telstra bundle over to NBN Telstra Bundle.

So, is there a connection fee that is charged when transferring, and do existing contract periods restart from the time of the move?

thanks

Dave

Re: Moving from cable to nbn (hfc)

Just found this on Telstra's site:

No. There is no additional change to your current plan’s monthly charge. Your existing plan and contract term with Telstra won’t change either. The network that supplies your services will, however, change. The nbnTM Explained flyer provided with your kit highlights what you need to know about the nbn network.

Looks like the stuff up with the original order address and subsequent new order with the correct address has had further ramifications.

looks like I will need to go through the hassles of calling billing, getting someone to understand will be a nightmare if fixing the  original problem was anything to go by!

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Let me rephrase, when moving an existing Telstra bundle to nbn, should their be a new connection fee and new contract period?

I move in March of this year. My bill has increase, speeds are poor and it drops of now and then. Not happy.

To correct this I was changed to NBN in March. Bill is $6-$10 more now.

Hi George53 if you've chosen a different plan your fees will reflect your selection, but there's no increase to the cost of a plan on NBN over Cable or ADSL.

For connection concerns I'd recommend first checking Service Status page for any known issues affecting your area here: http://tel.st/6x6a If no outages then try these steps first:

If that doesn't improve it then we offer 24x7 Technical Support on 1800 TFIBRE for NBN, to test your service and hardware for any possible faults Smiley Happy
