Yet ANOTHER IG8 Scam

Answered

Being billed $6.60 every month for something we KNOW we haven't subscribed to.

No record of a 1900 number. Nothing by text or email to indicate who is charging for what. No agreement has been given to take this money.

Telstra bill shows a 1300 number to ring, ie. IG8 Pty Ltd. IG8 have no website, no contact details (which says it all). Their number on the Telstra bill provides only 2 options - either give the 1900 number to stop the subscription (we don't have that) or give a marketing service number (wtf?). That's it. No humans, no complaints, no problems. Go away.

So apparently I can setup a business, choose some mobile phone numbers, bill them $5/$6 per month because I feel like it, and they won't know who I am and cannot stop me. Why on earth am I trying to earn a living when there is free money like this to be made......

Does anyone know how we can stop being ripped off for $6.60 every month by IG8 and their thieving clients?

Hi WinchWeb,

Welcome to CrowdSupport

I can certainly understand that charges for Third Party Purchase can be very frustrating if you don't know where they're originating from. These charges can be anything from ringtones you have purchased to voting or entering a competition. Most third parties require payment, or a series of payments for their content which Telstra pays to the provider on your behalf. We then include these charges on your bill.

If you have queries, complaints or issues of any kind – please first contact the company directly. If their details aren’t listed on your bill, use the 19 Service Finder at http://19SMS.com.au by entering the 19 number and the date that appears on your bill. This website will give you details of the company that is charging you for content and tell you how to unsubscribe.

Telstra also provides the option of barring premium services completely. Barring is free, and you won’t be charged for Premium SMS services once they’re barred. Barring won’t restrict your other services – but please be aware, it may take up to one business day to take effect. Call us on 13 22 00, or complete the form at http://telstra.com/psms-barring to bar Premium SMS.

Telstra TechMates have also released a video called ‘Third Party Content Charges’ that can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXJ9-veg6Bs

Re: Yet ANOTHER IG8 Scam

Nearly carried on like a pork chop as your response didn't address what I said... not directly anyway.

For the benefit of everyone else, on the Telstra bill the "Description" for this scam shows as "INPHO19761977MT". Believe it or not, I"m supposed to work out that the 19 number Adam refers to is the 19761977 bit in the middle of that description.

19SMS.com.au shows this as Mobile Affiliates' Games Centre. We have categorically NOT signed up to this.

Anyway, STOP text has been sent. We'll expect NOT to see this theft on our Telstra bill next month.

Such a scam....... you have to opt OUT of someone wanting to take $6.60 per month from your account. What other line of business allows this??????
