How To Update Telstra 4G Mobile Broadband Dongles

 

 - Huawei Telstra WiFi 4G Advanced Pro X (E5786)

  1. Press the Menu button (on the top side of the device) until Check for Update is higlighted
  2. Press the Power button to start the update

 - Huawei Telstra 4GX WiFi Pro (E5787)

  1. Select Settings
  2. Scroll down and select Update
  3. Select Check for Updates

 - Huawei Telstra 4GX WiFi & Car WiFi & USB + WiFi (E8372)

  1. Connect to the modem using USB or Wi-Fi
  2. Open a web browser
  3. Navigate to the modems web address of http://m.home or http://192.168.1.1/
  4. Select Log In and then enter the admin username and password of admin/admin and click Log In
  5. Select Update
  6. Select Check for Updates

 - Huawei Telstra 4GX USB PRO (E8372D)

 

Step 1: Install Device Manager

 

  1. Using USB plug in your dongle
  2. Autorun should install the device manager, if not navigate to the device via My Computer (which will be setup as a storage device on your PC) and double click the AutoRun file

When the installation completes you should find a desktop icon for the Device Manager on your PC.

Step 2: Flashing Device Firmware

Note: this step should not be started until Step 1 is complete.

 

  1. Download the software zip file here
  2. Unzip the files
  3. Run the E8372Update_21.180.19.10.302.exe file. This will flash the firmware on your device to the latest version
  4. When complete run the E8372Update_21.180.19.10.302_RE5.exe file. This will flash the web interface on your device to the latest version

 

Step 3: Check device version

 

  1. Run the Device Manager by double clicking the desktop icon
  2. Click Log In in the top right corner. The default username and password are both admin

  3. Click Settings and then System
    settings.png

  4. Click Device Information and you will see the latest software and Web UI versions listed, which should be 21.180.19.10.302 and 17.100.07.18.302 respectively.

 - Using a custom APN on your device(s) or unable to receive updates?

 

If you are using a custom APN to connect to a work network or are unable to download the update then you may need to do so manually. Please follow the instructions below to update your device.

 

Step 1: Install Device Manager
