The project to implement a data shaping solution is still in development. We want to ensure the design is right and it delivers the right experience for our customers before we launch. We are very much committed to the project and its implementation.
In the mean time we have introduced a range of initiatives to better inform our customers of their data usage, including:
- Introducing Telstra 24x7 app for Android, Apple and Blackberry devices giving customers better visibility and control of their mobile spend direct from their handset – including showing how much data a customer’s used compared with their allowance. More than a million of our customers have downloaded the 24x7 app.
- Providing free SMS usage alerts that notify our Post-Paid mobile customers about their data usage. We recently improved our domestic mobile data alerts to inform our customers when they exceed 50%, 85% and 100% of their data allowance.
- We recently made changes to the way we create data records on our network so we can alert our customers when they have reached, or are coming up to, their data limits sooner. Automatically send data usage alerts via SMS each time 20MB of data is used overseas. This is designed to keep our customers informed of how much data they are using whilst travelling.
