Data usage glitch over weekend? ridiculous

I woke up yesterday and was informed by Telstra via email that i had exceeded my 100gb monthly quota.

Apparently on sunday july 12 i used 44gb of data.

So yesterday i had to activate one of my 3 top ups so i could get to the end of my monthly cycle.

ive been reading on the telstra facebook page that their was a glitch over the weekend with the data counter which has effected several users. I think i may have been one of them.

Couls someone please look into this for me. Thanks.

I had 85gig just on one day!!!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon,

Yes, it surely sounds extremely high.

Do you leave your modem on?

Do you have your wireless password protected?

Are you sure that no  else in your premises is using it?

Do you have several devices simultaneously connected?

But 85 gigs is amazing, I agree.....

 

I believe that there may have been some data metering issues in the weekend.

Hi there

I was shocked to see that we have used " 308GB "on Sunday 12th this is a JOKE as we dont even use that amount in 1 WHOLE MONTH! and to top it OFF i have not been able to speak to anyone from the technical team as of yet
called them 10 or more times ended up waiting and waiting not good at all.
this is my second month with TELSTRA ONLY AND SURELY IS NOT A GOOD IMPRESSION
I WILL make sure they top up that 308gb back to my account.
angry and frustrated cos i use the net for business and as I am on a new 24 month contract now worried that this will be a recurring thing with telstra!
anyway see what happens in the morning...

It is a very very unusual issue,
They have noted that it is an issue and are working on it.
If you are on an NBN connection, the delay in getting through to someone for assistance would be because of a combination of both this issue and another one which resulted in over 50,000 NBN connections not being online today. Looks like both there has been issues with metering for other providers on NBN too so there might be an issue with NBN Co system more generally.

I have seen isolated cases of this sort of issue happening, but not one this level...

As far as waiting in queue for support, unfortunately, when there is major, and unplanned issues like the ones today, it would hard for any organisation to have enough staff to be able to handle the unexpected additional load... especially when you are talking ~50,000+ NBN Connections in Victoria not having any connection...
