afl live pass

I have read crowd support saying that if I am using a Telstra device then Telstra live doesn't use my data. Well I am using data when I connect. In fact I once used almost all my 1g allocated amount in one session. Why? And how can I stop this. I usually use WiFi however I don't use the afl live if not at home because of the data usage. If supposed to be free why am I using my data? Please help

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you

Re: afl live pass

Hey wobbss,

Welcome to Crowd Support Smiley Happy

When using the AFL Live Pass via a mobile device that is connected with Telstra on the mobile network then the usage is to be unmetered. If you connect via WiFi on either a fixed or Mobile Broadband service, then the data will be metered against the plan you have for that fixed or Mobile Broadband service. Was it registering usage when you were connected to the mobile network or when you were connected to WiFi?

Re: afl live pass

Hi wobbss,

From what I could find here https://go.telstra.com.au/helpandsupport/-/afl-live-2014

Do I pay for the data?

Standard data charges apply when downloading or using the app. Video data usage is unmetered only for Telstra customers.

Do I pay data fees for videos I watch as part of my AFL Live subscription?

Data is unmetered for Telstra customers watching video content via the Telstra network, however a small connection charge may apply while accessing the live content server.

Standard data charges apply if you are on another carrier.

In regards to usage, you can check detailed usage via My Account just click on service (I.E. Mobile) > Click recent charges > Click view detailed usage > Click download usage > Click download for current usage (or select & enter in the specific date range)

This may help you pin point exactly what's causing additional usage.

Also, how do you currently monitor your usage? I personally use My Account http://tel.st/cpyn & our 24x7 app
http://www.telstra.com.au/my-account/telstra-24x7-app/ as it is updated within 48 hours however data is usually current as of about 6 hours ago.

If you need a hand with the app or setting up My Account, please chat to us via http://tel.st/8qpr

I'd recommend having a read here http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Data-Usage/Increase-in-Mobile-Data-usage-with-Smartphones-and-... for some tips on how to minimise usage. I personally found my own usage increase due to the recent update that auto plays videos on Facebook & once I changed to over to "Wi-Fi only" found the usage decrease.

If you would like us to make sure everything is ok on our end, please have a chat to our 24x7 Mobile Assurance team on 132200.

Let me know if you have any further queries
