Advise of usage is received by customer at 50% and at 85% and at 100%
app telstra 24/7 should enable you to choose wether to top up or not
I feel the choice to top up should be selectable by the customer
e.g 1 day to next top up Customer may choose a different data access point e.g home data or free wifi point

You currently get that option. Once you get the 85% warning, then if you don't want the Automatic Top Up to be applied, you should be careful with your usage.
The Automatic Top Up is standard amongst all 3 Major Australian Carriers. It is much better than the excess usage charges that we used to get hit with.
