if two people are using shared data and one person runs out of their data does it automatically start using the other persons data

The way shared data works is that both/all of the plans create one larger allowance. So if Ph1 has 10GB, and ph2 has 5GB the shared allowance is 15GB, all the data used by both phone would then come out of the shared 15GB. So if one device uses 12GB and one uses 2GB it would be 14GB out of the 15GB. Essentially when sharing is activated the individual allowances no longer exist and are combined into the one single one.

If the combined usage exceeded the shared allowance (in this example say 15.5GB of the 15GB) was used in a month excess data on older plans or extra data on newer plans would then apply. On most plans it would be extra data at $10/GB.
