3rd party modem router replacing gateway

Answered

Hi everyone

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge with using a 3rd party modem router (in this case D-Link dsl4320l) with their HFC NBN connection from Telstra.

The way I understand it is that it should just connect to the black Arris NBN box and be good, this modem router has a dsl port for the phone line.

Our household has had serious issues with using the supplied gateway 5355, the 5ghz band that it's supposed to have is non-existent (we can see it, no device can connect) unless we reset the modem ( and then it only stays open for a bit before kicking all devices off). I have called Telstra support, they have no idea how to fix it apparatus from sending me more gateways ( I have 2 currently, both work the same, no 5ghz band).

We are a internet heavy family, streaming shows, YouTube, Chromecast etc and the gateway just can't deal.
