ADSL2+ waiting list. Stuck on ADSL1.

Answered

We had ADSL2+ on the Wallan 3756 Vic exchange. Average speed 15Mb-16Mb download. We moved house. We Kept the same phone number, on the same exchange. We have now lost ADSL2 and are back to ADSL1. Average speed 4Mb-5Mb download.

We have been told that the Wallan exchange is full. There is a 6-12 month waiting list for ADSL2+.

I would have assumed that we would have kept the same services, as we kept the same phone number.

It seems as though Telstra has cancelled all services, then reconnected, as we are now at the bottom of the list.

Can anybody shed some light on the correct procedure for moving house within the same exchange area?

Thanks Michael

Re: ADSL2+ waiting list. Stuck on ADSL1.

same ports are not used...............

what happens is the phone number is connected first then the order goes through for the broadband.

if there is a shortage of ports then in the middle of the move your old port becomes vacant so its allocated to someone on the waiting list.

then when the order is submitted to connect your broadband there is a shortage of asdl 2+ ports so you get stuck on adsl 1

thats how it works

Re: ADSL2+ waiting list. Stuck on ADSL1.

unless you are on a different exchange or even sub-exchange or a high distance from the exchange normally, where possible, they would retain the same ports if you are on the same exchange/sub-exchange, but even within the same suburbs you may have to be moved between the main and sub-exchanges based on line quality and distances... which may result in the issue you have ended up with...

It is hard to know for sure for anyone who can't actually look into exactly what has happened...

Re: ADSL2+ waiting list. Stuck on ADSL1.

Hi Type3,

Each location can connect to a different exchange and when placing a move order your current post will be free to use and we will try and connect you on the nearest exchange. If a port is available it will be ADSL2+ enabled in most cases. If you have ADSL on ADSL 1 speeds this is generally because this is the speed achievable at your home.
