Accessing Telstra’s NBN via Foxtel satellite dish

Answered

Can you advise whether it is possible to access Telstra’s NBN using an already installed Foxtel satellite dish.  I currently use telstra’s adsl/modem however the wifi performance is very poor and download speeds very slow.  NBN rollout via the underground cable is some time away for our area.  Thanks.

No you can't access Telstra NBN using the Foxtel Satelitte dish . The Foxtel Satellite is for Foxtel programs only. In remote areas that use Satelittes for there Internet it is usually slower than ADSL expecialy in the upload direction.

Satellite is only available for customer in rural areas and Telstra is not a provider of NBN satellite services. Additionally satellite speeds are limited with strict data caps.

Re: Accessing Telstra’s NBN via Foxtel satellite dish

Yes you can access Telstra NBN services via your Foxtel satellite if your signed up to the internet side of Foxtel but you wont be able to get the full benefits of the NBN fixed wireless connection.

It complex way Foxtel in some area's are connecting end users up to Foxtel under agreement with NBN and Telstra,

This is nothing new been around since I lasted worked for Foxtel but was never really promoted to end users in Australia because of the monopoly Foxtel and Telstra have over the market.

You have always been able to get connected to ADSL service via Foxtel satellite with Telstra but they do not tell end users this when signing up if those who had Foxtel remember in order to get access to those wrestle or rugby games  would know you had to have a phone line hooked up to your Foxtel box this was the monopoly playing out as satellite can host internet services always have since mid 1990's its just Telstra and Foxtel monopoly that got in the way of Australia consumers access broad band via Foxtel service.
