Cable in the street, but not at my house, can I pay to get it?

Answered

Hi All,

I've been looking to get cable at my house after a neighbour said he had it... when I use the cable availabilty checker - it shows my house as non-cable (confirmed by telstra 1800 number) but about 200m up the street where my neighbour is - he has it, and apparently all the houses beyond, even the next street over (less than 150m) has it... it's like they only cabled half our street?

Is it possible to pay Telstra (or a subcontractor) to get the cable run do my house for installation?

I know it's going to be expensive, but anything has to be better than 8mb adsl!

Kind Regards,

Matt

Hello,

No dramers.

Prices vary depending on the job to be carried out, saying that is not cheap.

All the information you need is available here for your viewing.

Getting a quote is free of charge.

Normally costs are charged per meter being that you are about 200 metres away, I would be sitting down when the prices is read out to you.

Thanks.

Hello Matt,

You will need to request a commercial quote from Telstra.

A techie will come out and inspect the site and if possible offer you a quote for the work.

You will need to be a Telstra customer to start the process and the time frame is about 4 weeks.

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply...

Has anyone ever done such a thing? and if so - approximate costs??

and does it cost to get the quote done??

I'm just wondering if the distance is too great and I'm getting my hopes up...

again, appreciate the response... Smiley Happy

Cheers,

Matt
