Email domain blocked

I have a strange request. On the 2nd of January my modem received a new IP. This IP was blacklisted on spamhaus. Now I dellisted this but I cannot get any mail to work in my house. I use my own hosting at hostgator and cannot contact my mail.domain.com address from within my house on any device. I changed the DNS of the laptop and everything is fine, when my phones disconnect from my home internet, all emails arrive. It just when I am at home on the wifi I have issues. I change modem 3 time to make sure it wasnt that but essentially my mail.domain.com is blocked. Can I please get my domain unblocked or a new ip address.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you

Re: Email domain blocked

OK, sorta figured it out but cannot fix. The DNS resolving of my domain name is the wrong IP. It resolves to a telstra IP even though all DNS, A records and Name servers are pointing to my host. I can ping other domains on my host and they resolve fine, just one of my domains. Is there anyone can help me fix this?

The domain resolves fine outside of my local network or using google DNS. I am on cable internet and have reset cable modem, router and tried everything to flush out the DNS error. It effects everything on network, and due to limitation on telstra router, I cannot set the DHCP DNS servers to Google.

Re: Email domain blocked

whats the IP it resolves to> Something that starts with 69. ?

To me this sounds like Telstra Broadband Protects Network protection is in play and the address you're getting is one its proxies

Re: Email domain blocked

Yeah thats a TBP Proxy that's getting returned. Not necessarily whats blocking it but the only way around that is to change DNS or get TBP removed off your account

Re: Email domain blocked

As a workaround I am using another one of my mail servers which resolves to the correct IP at the same host. But to get the proxy removed, who do I talk to, speaking to Tech support on phone is not going to be an easy task as I don't think they will understand what the issue is (took me ages to explain what DHCP was to last tech support when my modem needed replacing). Is there a department which understand the fundamentals of networking and proxy's?

Re: Email domain blocked

Contact billing and get Telstra Broadband Protect removed off your account. That should resolve it

I don't forsee security ops whitelisting you personally on a residential grade service
