FileFactory Download failure

Answered

Yesterday Afternoon my Filefactory download stop Allowing downloads  using my ADSL Modem.

When I Click on the Download Button - "Download error (265)
The requested Download URL was invalid." is displayed

I Can Access my Filfactory Account OK Search etc

However:

I can Download Files from Filefactory using Telstra Air WiFi access to My Modem when I click on the download Button.

If I use Opera VPN the Downloads also work when I click on the Download Button.

I Changed My Technicolor TG797nV3 modem to my old Modem and Downloads still do not work. Changed back to my Technicolor TG797nV3 modem.

Access My Filefactory Account from a mates Telstra Account and All OK

Turned the Modem of and on the IP address changes each time.

Can anybody Help Grrrrrrr

Re: FileFactory Download failure

There are several reasons why people will use alternate DNS servers.

- potentially faster servers, if they are located close by

- potentially improved resolve of website changes such as NS (Name Server) settings etc.

- bypass ISP level filtering such as those that block pirating websites

- bypass Telstra Broadband Protect settings

Re: FileFactory Download failure

Try disabling LAN IPv6 in the modem. Advanced > Local Network > remove tick from  LAN IPv6 state and reboot modem.

Re: FileFactory Download failure

I'm having the exact same issue. Everything was working fine up until Wednesday. Did you find a workaround Bob16? Could it be that Telstra is blocking FF downloads? It seems that any file uploaded this year is affected. I can download on VPN and using my mobile connection so there must be some funny business going on at Telstra's end.

Re: FileFactory Download failure

Change to 8.8.8.8 If you do it in modem go to Advanced > Local network Make sure LAN IPV6 state is off and reboot.
You can also do it on your pc in the Network adapter IPv4 settings. If you do it on your pc reconnect pc after making the change. See link below for how to change DNS on your device.

Re: FileFactory Download failure

I Changed DNS of my Network Adaptor From Blank "Preferred DNS server: to 8.8.8.8 and "Alternate DNS server: to 8.8.4.4 also made sure the IPV6 state is off and rebooted.
All appears to be working tried 4 Different files in different sizes.
Thanks for the invaluable help.

Re: FileFactory Download failure

Thanks, I do not think any of those reasons is why I had/solved my download problem as I was able to get to the FileFactory servers, Edit my account, search on there servers for files but I could not actually download any files,.
Thanks for reply until next time I have problems.

Re: FileFactory Download failure

How do i go about changing DNS on a NETGEAR CG3100D-2?
setuprouter.com is not very helpful: http://setuprouter.com/router/netgear/cg3100d-2/dns.htm

I can change my DNS if I switch from dynamic IP to static IP but this router is owned by my landlord and I don't want to mess anything up by changing IP type. Will this affect anything if I do change the IP type?

When I sign into File Factory, I get a message on the bar at the top

"Waiting for File Factory"  but it does not come up.  This has been happening for about 3 weeks.  Can anybody help?
