Longer length ethernet cable on NBN

Just got connected to NBN and have installed my T-Gateway, all working fine. Want to relocate the T-Gateway and to do this will need to use a 10 metre long ethernet cable between the NBN box and the T-Gateway, any forseeable problems? Than

Re: Longer length ethernet cable on NBN

Hi Than, don't really see any problems, that's a fair distance though. Just make sure you are using a really good quality cable, not a reject shop type El-Cheapo.

Re: Longer length ethernet cable on NBN

The maximum length is 90m if the cable is straight, if you are looping it around things than more than 15m might cause issues. A 10m cable will have no noticeable issues.

I would recommend getting a Cat 6 cable over a Cat 5e though

Re: Longer length ethernet cable on NBN

Hello.  There's no advantage installing cat6 ethernet cable for such a short cable run - cat5e will work perfectly fine, is cheaper and less cumbersome to work with....  :-)
