NBN FTTN Asus DSL AC68U setup

Answered

I have just had the NBN (FTTN) connected to my house. I'm trying to configure my ASUS DSL AC 68U to work directly as the modem and router. So far I keep getting my port blocked due to incorrect settings and it is hit and miss with the TELSTRA support on resetting it.

Does anyone have a working set of settings for Telstra NBN for the AC68U?

Or has anyone successfully bridged it to the Telstra router (last resort).

@Bullfrog
Profile definitely should be 17a.
Annexe A/I/J/L/M

17a for speed 100Mbps, 30a for speed 200Mbps.

FYI. If you use setup wizard and have the latest firmware, there is an opton to simply choose Telstra NBN

Re: NBN FTTN Asus DSL AC68U setup

Even though this modem is shown as FTTN compliant on https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/fttn_registered_modem_router many people have been unable to use it on a NBN FTTN connection.

If its blocking your port I would say its not compliant

Manufactures put NBN ready stickers even on ADSL only modem because they have a WAN port that can be connected via a NBN box or  compliant VDSL modem to NBN.

You could try these instructions.

@Bullfrog

Do you need landline? If you do, you would need Telstra Gateway as the primary modem router, therefore cannot use DSL AC68U as the primary modem router..

Do you have the latest firmware installed on DSL AC68U?

The latest formware would allow the correct configuration activated as a default for FTTN e.g.
G.INP / G.998.4: Enabled
G.Vector / G.993.5: Enabled

You only need one incorrect parameter (e.g. G.INP disabled or G.Vector disabled) and your port would be blcoked.

Did you set it up manually or via Setup Wizard?

To avoid locking your NBN port, setup the ASUS configuration manually before connecting the phone cable.

Please go through all the parameters listed here.

Re: NBN FTTN Asus DSL AC68U setup

thanks everyone for your help.

I manually set the settings provided just incase, but ran through the wizard just before the telstra technical support reset the port. After that it worked like a charm with the telstra automatic ip!
