I just had a simple question around is there any point about raising the speed of my FTTN service? Max I can get is 17mbs and I am roughly about 500m from the node. Just thought I would check to see if I really should be expecting higher speeds and if so, how can I fix this.
If you are only 500 Meters from the node you should defiantly get speeds faster than 17 Mbps. Even thought you might only be 500 Meters by line of sight the cable distance might be much greater and in some cases you could even be connected to a Node further away.
Could you post your modem's line stats, these will give an indication of what your FTTN link is capable off and what could be causing the low speed. On the Telstra modems the line stats are located here:
