What is the purpose of the USB port on the new NBN compatible modem/router?

Hi @Ron2606,

As long as you have activated file sharing on the router, any device on the network with the compatible software will be able to see the files. Whether they can view/play them will be determined by the codec on the device itself.

Primarily for sharing media across the local network. E.g you can plug a External Hard Drive in and access it across multiple devices

I believe you might be able to use it as a 4G fallback also but haven't had much success

Thanks very much for your responses. I have attached an external HDD and used FileBrowser to access the files. Are there other ways of accessing those files?

If it is media files you can access them on your smart TV using DLNA, you can also connect supported printers I believe
