NO WI FI FOR DAYS

Cannot access wi fi on modem. I have disconnected all cables to the modem and re-connected but internet connection terribly slow and no wi fi at all

Have you tried a reset of the modem?

Hi,
So to confirm you have two issues? Slow internet when connected directly to the modem/router and WIFI not operating on the device.

I guess one of the steps is to share the device so we know what steps to take.

Yes you could reset the device so long as you have the required user information to re-enter as that'll disappear.
