Old HDD crashed so bought new SSD, installed windows 10 and can't get access to the internet. Have NBN - HFC connection and it works on old desktop but nothing on new one. What have I missed in set up?

Originally, your computer probably came with all the drivers pre-installed. You will need to find the recovery media, or download all the manufacturer specific drivers (not only for network devices). W10 is pretty good with generic and some OEMs, but not all... Depending on the age of the machine, you may struggle finding them.
Your motherboard manufacturer's site should list the drivers.
I bought a similar motherboard but had no problem because linux mint just worked!
If you right click on the Device Managers ? symbol, it may reveal something. But this is just a hunch.
However if you can download, burn and boot a linux DVD iso image - eg: Linux Mint, open a terminal and enter
dmesg|more at the prompt
it will list more than you ever wanted to know about the drivers and your computer!
