Routing (latency) issue to west->east coast of USA

Answered

Hi,

Having some  high latency issues with connecting to a US east coast game server (Elder Scrolls Online).

I am typically getting in the vicinity of 360-400ms in the game, whereas friends from TPG/iiNET ISPs seem to be hovering around 250ms.

I've done a ping test to VA, USA which is roughly where the server is located and it suggests that I should be getting in the vicinity of around 220ms.

Below is my tracert for the game server (or near enough it):

Tracing route to 198.20.200.157 over a maximum of 30 hops

Looks like its being directed to the west coast for some reason and hopping back through Dallas?

Also attached an image of a friend on TPG tracert where it finishes around 260ms, which is what i am expecting to this server.

Any possible/potential ideas to help with this? I've read the "International routing, latency and ping" topic, and performed all tests suggested there to troubleshoot this.

Thanks

Re: Routing (latency) issue to west->east coast of USA

Hi Shelly,

This has indeed been resolved.

Getting pings around the 230-250ms mark now which looks around where it should be.

Great work, thanks and much appreciated!
