Security Key

Answered

HI

I currently use a Telstra [edited private details] modem with a Netgear Router but want to have more control over the time that my kids spend on the internet.    Is it possible to change the seucirty key on my modem?

Thanks

Hi Mulcher,

You can access your modems interface via http://10.0.0.138

I would suggest that you also change the Admin password that allows you to make changes to the modem settings, the default password is: Administrator

For more detailed instructions on how to change your WiFi security keys, then you can go into the Help section in the bottom left hand corner. If you are wanting to be able to limit control then you might consider setting up the Guest WLAN for your children and using the Main WLAN settings (with personalised settings) for the adults.

You can also download the full user guide straight from the manufacturer here.

Of course, if the modem is returned to factory default settings this would return the WiFi settings and admin password back to the default, so depending on how ingenuous your kids are, you may also have to look at a way to keep the modem locked away.

Some features for Parental Control are limited currently, however there is a new firmware version being trialled which will include full access to this feature.

Re: Security Key

Hey Mulcher,

I just did a google search for [edited customer details] and the only thing that came up was your post, so as far as I know we haven't ever sold a modem with that model number. What sort of service are you using there?
