Slow Internet

Over a week now with mostly no internet, no emails and no home phone. Incredibly bad.

We pay a premium for internet that is so slow it can barely load a webpage. Thanks Telstra, Xmas where we can't communicate with children o'seas.

Anyone know where I can find a phone box?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Slow Internet

Another technician has come to look at problem of no internet, no emails and no home phone.
Replaces some wiring. He doesn't have faith in fix due to distance from exchange.
And so we go on the merry go round and around and around.
My mobile number is contact number for Telstra re fix (or hopeful fix haha).
The only contact we have had in recent days is a text to my husbands mobile (he's ill by the way and seeing specialist - hence the reason to contact me) re Smart Troubleshooting.
What the hell does this mean!!!????
Hope your holidays going well Mr Penn and you're "staying connected" with Telstra!

@Rain100 I don't understand this thread. How can it be Telstra's fault if you are having issues, presumably ADSL, if you live a good distance from the exchange, which the technician has seemed to have advised.

Technology has its limits you know?

Can you post your full modem stats so the tech guru's can have a look?

Info should look similar to this (Ones in bold are needed) ...

DSL Status Up
DSL Uptime 18 hours 28 minutes 9 seconds
DSL Type VDSL2
DSL Mode Fast
Maximum Line rate 20.03 Mbps 35.43 Mbps
Line Rate 19.99 Mbps 34.39 Mbps
Data Transferred 321.46 MBytes 1485.85 MBytes
Output Power 8.8 dBm 12.1 dBm
Line Attenuation 5.7, 33.9, 53.9 dB 15.8, 44.1, 67.8 dB
Noise Margin 6.3 dB 6.7 dB

Re: Slow Internet

We PAY $107 a month for a home phone line that doesn't work! Which means internet doesn't work and emails not able to be sent or received. The technician DID NOT at any point think this was a reasonable situation and when he saw internet 'speeds' (if you can call them that) he was shocked (not in a good way!)

Re: Slow Internet

Adding to that...we have a situation (for medical reasons) that requires a landline.

Spending over two hours on a phone chat using my mobile device to get our issue resolved has the added bonus of using "our" data etc for pursuing a solution.

Also waiting on return phone call from the 4 January 19 by Telstra representative to this day. Ive phoned him a minimum of 3 times every day since.

Telstra sold said packages for this service at this rate to clients knowing the issues of distance from exchange and have not complained to me about receiving $107 every month for a product that is a FAIL!

Re: Slow Internet

Thankyou for response. A Telstra representative called (2 Jan 19) but I was unable to take the call at that time and asked for call back which we organised for the following day (3 Jan 19) at the same time. No call happened. I've been trying to contact him to no avail. It's now the 7 Jan 19.

@Rain100 Hopefully, by fixing your phone will fix your internet issues. But we still need to see your modem stats.
