Telstra Smart Modem

Answered

I have just installed a new Telstra smart modem. Everything seems to work OK except the Signal light is off. I have a desk top connected by cable and several WiFi devices, which seem to be working.

I have tried to connect my LG PVR, but it fails. I have tried entering the details manually and pushing the button. It detects the modem but will not connect. I noticed that when I pressed the 'Pair' button that the signal light flashed and turned red. Eventually it went off.

I have tried rebooting the modem but the signal light is still off. My Sony smart TV will play Netflix and my wife's Samsung tablet connects. Any ideas?

Thanks

Derek

Re: Telstra Smart Modem

The pair button light will turn red if it has not been able to successfully pair with a device. (Phone handset or WiFi device)

If you connect manually should not need to press the pair button. When connecting manualy have you ensured that IP address in DVR is set to Auto or DHCP? Also set WiFi security type to WPA2/PSK AES.

By signal light are you referring to the 4G back up light on the smart modem? If that is off either out of 4G range or SIM card in Modem has not been activated.

Re: Telstra Smart Modem

Could try a factory reset. Signal light only represents the 4g backup signal strength and should be red, organge or green.

Re: Telstra Smart Modem

Also did you set a static ip on the lg dvr as this may be why its having problems connecting as the smart modem is on the 192.168.0.1... range while previous Telstra modems were on the 10.0.0.1... range

Re: Telstra Smart Modem

That answers my question about the signal led. Our mobile coverage is hopeless. Although we are only 1Klm from the nearest tower, we are in a dip so coverage is next to zero. Any idea why my PVR won't connect?
Thanks
