When do I select an NBN plan after connecting my Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2?

NBN FTTN is available in my area. I've connected my Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 modem successfully and received the SMS "Thanks for setting up your nbn kit ...we'll start your switch to the nbn in the next few days...". LIghts are green on my modem.

1. At what point do I chose my NBN plan? and

2. when will i be notified that my switch is complete?

When you switch to NBN if you are a existing Telstra customer you will remain on your existing plan. If you are out of contract and wish to change to one of the new plans you will need to contact Telstra Sales.

 

You should be notified before you are switched the day and approximate time and should also be notified when transfer complete. Normally with FTTN there is only a 15 minute loose of Internet during Transfer.

Yes you will be switched if you have already been tolld that you will be transfered to NBN.

I received a similar SMS. Due to coronavirus it is not currently possible to speak with Sales - either on the phone line or using the online chat service.

 

Seems like someone at Telstra did not think this through..

Set it & forget it
