On some days it has dropped out 2-3 times in a row and we wouldd love to know why this has been happening several times just in the last 2wks!

That will depend on the type of internet connection that you have.
What type of connection is it, and which model of modem are you using?
You can also run a check of your connection (via mobile phone if you need to) via https://fix.telstra.com

The internet we have is NBN broadband and the modem is the one Relates sent us TG797nv3.
