adsl2

Hello,

I am having trouble with my broadband connection. It is either very slow or non existent. I did a speed test the other day and the download speed was 1.1 Mbps and upload 0.8 Mbps Ping was 0.8 ms. I'm not sure what all this means but it doesn't sound good.

I'm on adsl2 connected via a Telstra TG797n v3 modem.

Thanks Pat.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you

Re: adsl2

Post your modem stats:
On a Premium Home Network Gateway, T-Gateway, Gateway Max, or Gateway Max 2
(TG587, TG797, TG799, TG800):
http://10.0.0.138/ > Advanced > Broadband

On a Telstra Gateway
(Sagemcom F@st 5355):
http://10.0.0.138/ > Advanced > Gateway Settings > Device Info > General > xDSL (Bottom of Page)

On a Frontier Gateway , Telstra Smart Modem or Smart Modem Gen2
(DJN2130, DJA0230, DJA0231, or LH1000):
http://192.168.0.1/ > Advanced > Broadband (Internet Access for LH1000)

Default password is generally 'admin' or 'Telstra'
You're looking for line rates, power levels, attenuation etc

Are the tests being run over Ethernet or WiFi?
Are they being run during peak times (3PM-12AM)?

Re: adsl2

Yes being run over ethernet
Just been on Telstra 24/7 chat and they tweaked it a bit there end and got the download to 1.5 Mpbs and they say this is reasonable considering my distance from the exchange etc..I couldn't connect to 10.0.0.138

@veeman You could reset the modem and start again (Remembering your account details)

Or go to a command prompt on your computer and type: ipconfig /all That should tell you your modem IP (Gateway) address.

Re: adsl2

Thanks Ozmoz, I might try that although Telstra are going to send me out a new Frontier modem as they say it will be faster, so maybe I should wait and see how that goes first.

Telstra Smart Modem

Plug in and connect in minutes. Smart.
