Call Guardian - dialling code?

Answered

Setting up a Telstrra Call Guardian phone - what is  the "full dialling code"?  Does this include the area code?

So a number needs to be entered as 08 9xxx xxxx and not 9xxx xxxx?

Re: Call Guardian - dialling code?

Hi jasnick,

What are you trying to do that needs a "full dialling code" there? Normally that would mean the number plus area code, unless it was an overseas number you were talking about, in which case it would need 0011 then the country code in front of the number.

Re: Call Guardian - dialling code?

Hi thedylan

I'm just setting up known contacts so they don't get the announcement asking them who is calling. To quote the manual:

"To be sure that Call Guardian works properly please make sure you enter the full dialling code for contacts that you save."

So for WA numbers I am assuming I need to put 08 in front of the number for landline numbers.

Mobiles I will just put the number as is ?

Thanks

Re: Call Guardian - dialling code?

Hi thedylan.  I'm looking to buy one of these, but I have a silent number.  If I add the 1832 string to contacts in the phone to whom I want to display my number to, will the Guardian recognise their number when they call me?  Cheers.

Re: Call Guardian - dialling code?

Hey Combo5

You don't need to add a string of numbers before calling someone if you've got a Silent Line.
If you've got a Silent Line your number is automatically shown as "Private" when you call someone - you don't need to do anything else.

The numbers 1832 only need to be used by someone wanting to block their number on a call by call basis

Re: Call Guardian - dialling code?

Mobile numbers in my Contact List are still being "announced".  What is the  correct way to enter a mobile number in the Address Book?   I have just been entering the numbr eg xxxx xxx xxx

Thanks

Re: Call Guardian - dialling code?

Hi jasnick,

It sounds like it's been set up correctly on your end and this is something we need to check in our systems. Please call Telstra Mobile on 13 22 00 (open 24x7) then say "Mobiles" and we can get this looked into for you.

Re: Call Guardian - dialling code?

Spoke to a very nice guy Anton who found out that it may well be because particular  callers had set up their phones to not disclose thier numbers so naturally my phone would treat them like a new caller.  I will try and find out if this is the case.
