Cancelled Messagebank but still have stutter tone.

Several months ago we cancelled the Messagebank service as our phone has its own message function. However, we still get a stutter tone every time we pick up the handsets. When trying to get rid of it we are prompted to set up the service, with pin etc. 

We haven't done this as we aren't confident doing so will just lead to more problems, such as restarting the service.

How can we safely clear the message that is on there?

Sometimes the Stutter Dial tone isn't correctly removed when the service is turned off. This is particularly the case if you ported your home phone number to Telstra after being with another provider. 

We have a team called the Messagebank Fixed Service Faults Team who are able to clear the tone off your line, and to speak with them you just need to call 1800 815 700 and they are available 24x7

Thanks so much. We've been with Telstra for decades so haven't changed services. I don't know how the message was left on the phone after we stopped the service, but that's okay. I'll get onto having it fixed.
