FTTP - home phone issues with no NBN connected

Hi,

 

My mum and dad have FTTP installed but do not have an internet/NBN connection, only a home phone service. Can any standard landline phone be used or are there any limitations? They currently have a Uniden DECT1715 that seems to make and answers calls no problem, except when ringing 101 the sound from the answering service is occasionally scrambled, as can the dialtone sometimes?

Any standard phone can be used
For Official Support start a Secure Chat , try the Online Troubleshooter, Outage Check or Complaint.

Scrambled, or different dial tone may indicate that there is a voicemail left in the message bank...
