Answered

Just found out I can't upgrade my home phone to an NBN contract and I can't end an expired contract at their shop at Erina Fair.

Just completely wasted a trip.

I was told they couldn't do it at their shop but I had to do it over the phone

What's the point of them having a shop? Do they want to lose customers (I pay around $320.00 every month to them and for the moment now $372.00. They have no idea how much money they won't be getting if I seriously decide to switch some one else)?

@whyisitsoslow Some Telstra shops are a franchise, and some just have incompetent personal that hurts the brand name.

I suggest you call 13 22 00 and say "Disconnect" to the Autobot lady between 9am and 9pm (M-F) you should get through to a specialised disconnection team in Adelaide.

They are also meant to be available at certain hours on the weekend, but lately I have found on the weekend the call is going to the oversea's call center, and while they should also be able to help, I've found they are not as good.

They are terrific people and will certainly work out with you what you need :-)

Let us know how you got on? :-)

Re: Just found out I can't upgrade my home phone to an NBN contract and I can't end an expired contr

I think this is a genuine Telstra shop (I've been there a lot in the past and usually there's been no problems).

I got the contract which I wanted to get disconnected disconnected (it was for a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S (a Windows 10 Pro (full Operating System) but that was a pain to set up too because there was some SIM card activation problem but that eventually got sorted out by some IT department complaints service at Telstra)), through Telstra Live Chat but trying to get internet access on my home line still hasn't been sorted (more to do with their dumb online order form (it asks for employer detail and I've been unemployed for about 7 years (it's hard to get a decent job where I live, so I was retraining in Networking and Webdesign at TAFE) to try and find better work (I used to be an Admin Assistant at my last job but was basically in charge of Administration at my job before that)))).

I'm going to try the shop again tomorrow but I think I through off the person I talked to when I mentioned upgrading one of the contracts and ending (disconnecting) the other.

I've had a lot of good expereinces there too and that's mainly why I like Telstra, that and sometimes better coverage and service. I think sometimes even their "Live Chat" people hate them too. lol.

Thanks for your help. I'll keep you updated.

Re: Just found out I can't upgrade my home phone to an NBN contract and I can't end an expired contr

All's good.

Got my Internet Service (not quite the plan I wanted but still unlimited phone calls to Standard Australian numbers, unlimited mobile calls (in Australia) and Unlimited data. $90.00 a month, I wanted the $120.00 plan with faster internet speeds (the top speed I seem to get is 50 Mbs download and what seems like 20Mbs upload (I've got FTTP) but the $120.00 plan would have given me 80Mbs (be handy for massive downloads) but I can always upgrade later)).

Plus an Xbox One X with 24 months game pass ($38.00).

So not that bad $128.00 every month.

I went back to the Telstra Shop at Erina and this time the service was a lot better but got the expired contract disconnected by using Telstra's Live Chat (I could have done that online but that type of stuff I'd much rather do in person).

Re: Just found out I can't upgrade my home phone to an NBN contract and I can't end an expired contr

@whyisitsoslow I'm glad you are mostly happy :-)

The good thing about the Telstra NBN plans they are no longer under a contract, so you can change around per month, or leave altogether. Although if you got a new Telstra NBN modem that would have to be paid out at $9 per month for what was left in 24 months. But no other fee's like the old days.

You mentioned you wanted the faster speeds.

Can you post your full modem stats so we can see what your maximum speed might be?

The info looks something like this...

DSL Status Up
DSL Uptime 18 hours 28 minutes 9 seconds
DSL Type VDSL2
DSL Mode Fast
Maximum Line rate 20.03 Mbps 35.43 Mbps
Line Rate 19.99 Mbps 34.39 Mbps

Output Power 8.8 dBm 12.1 dBm
Line Attenuation 5.7, 33.9, 53.9 dB 15.8, 44.1, 67.8 dB
