Panasonic KX-GT6822 & Telstra Smart Modem

Answered

I have a Telstra Smart Modem, and just purchased the Panasonic handset.

I've connected the handset to the Phone 1 green port on the modem. No green light for the phone on the modem. No splitter, no other connection from modem to phone.

The handset says 'check phone line' .

I've restarted the modem to make sure everything is recognising each other.

Telstra has offered a technician callout at the cost of $135!!!

Any suggestions on how to make the phone work?

You can use any phone cord to connect the modem's PSTN port to the phone wall socket.

Re: Panasonic KX-GT6822 & Telstra Smart Modem

The phone light on modem should be green even if no phone is connected. If you have an non NBN connection the PSTN port on modem should be connected to a wall phone socket. If you have an NBN connection then phone light should turn green when VOIP SIP is registered. If phone light is not turning green then there is a fault with the modem or your NBN service. The fee will be waived as it is a Telstra fault.

The only thing you can try is to make sure everything is connected correctly. You could also try factory resetting modem by pressing reset button on back of modem (Near LAN port 2 Gen 2 modems, beneath power switch Gen 1.1 modems) for at least 10 seconds.

Thank you for your reply.

Do I use any phone cord to connect PTSN to wall socket? Or does it need to be a specific cable?

I have Telstra cable, not yet across on NBN.

Re: Panasonic KX-GT6822 & Telstra Smart Modem

try using the reset button on both nbn box and modem

just turning power does not always work

you need a nail or similar type to press reset button you need to hold it for about 20 seconds or so until all lights go out then release bottom and wait for lights to come back on

it might take up to 15 minuets to restart

that should fix it

keep phone line in modem while using reset buttons
