Phone line in rental property

Answered
Hi there,

I have just purchased a property and intend to rent it out in the next few months. It has its nbn boxes installed already. I’m just wondering if I need to put the phone line in my name or anything like that now, or can I just leave things until I get a tenant and let them connect as they like?

Any help would be appreciated!

If that's the case you can definitely leave it to the renter to organise Smiley Happy

Re: Phone line in rental property

Do you know what NBN technology type it is at the premises and whether its been used before?

I'm by no means an expert but in my experience with rentals its left as is for the renter to sort out. I think its a great idea to include the state of the connection in the contract so the renter knows what to expect though.

Re: Phone line in rental property

Fibre to premises, I think. It was used in the past by the previous owner, but the place is vacant at the mo. As long as whoever moves in can connect via their own arrangements with Telstra, then that’s fine.

Thanks for the quick reply.
