Hi all,


What I think I'm hearing after talking to Telstra is: 1) I can port over our current land line number (with TPG) which will then replace the temporary number we have been given  2) It can only be ported once the Telstra service becomes active (2 May apparently) 3) It could take 3 business days or more to transfer over.


So, I have requested the porting of our old number (via a phone conversation).  My questions are:

1) How do I get something in writing/email/text confirming my porting request has gone through?

2) When the old number is being ported, what happens when somebody rings it? Does it ring out?  Is there a disconnection message?

3) Is there any way of working around that period when the number is being ported so that we don't miss phone calls?
