landline number transfer

In March I changed my NBN service from Optus to Telstra.

First off the landline was cancelled by Optus rather than transferred.

In May the number was finally released by Optus but now, more than seven weeks later Telstra has yet to activate my number.

Today I chatted and spoke with 9 (or was it 10) different people, finally I was told they had ordered a copper line service and that I (that is I) would have to contact the sales team to get the problem fixed.

Four and a half months to transfer a number is far too long.

I have lodged a complaint with the TIO but they have a backlog of months before they can look at my complaint.

How can I get this fixed rather than being switched between Telstra departments, no-one at Telstra takes ownership and just passes you over to someone else or hang up or close chat.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: landline number transfer

You needed to lodge a formal complaint with Telstra via https://Telstra.com/complaints

But as you have already lodged one via the TIO, that one will take precedence and Telstra has to follow the TIO complaints process.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
