Otherwise, you will need to provide some more information if you want some tips on what to do.
We would need to know the type of connection you are on, the model of modem, the color of the lights on the modem and a description of what's happening. Your postcode and saying is not working properly doesn't really give us any clue at all.
Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
