Telstra replaced my old nether 4g device with a Netgear Nighthawk M1 and my xbox will now not connect to the internet. The xbox connects to the modem fine, but stops there. I have the latest firmware version, tried manual DNS settings on the xbox, have gone through all troubleshooting, restarting, etc and no luck.
I have port forwarded on the modem with no luck.
So frustrating when the old device had no issues connecting the xbox to the internet.
Any ideas as to whether it could be a service setting on Telstra's side or not?
Was this helpful?
maybe this is the problem
When you run a network test on the xbox, where does it get stuck?
Have the same trouble as aarfman.... the nighthawk recognises the xbox but will not connect to the internet through the xbox.
On the test we get the first RED X on testing network connection.... CANNOT CONNECT TO INTERNET
Thankyou for your help
is this through wifi or wired?
You've tried resetting your network settings?
If you've tried all the troubleshooting you can, it could potentially be due to the CGNAT that Telstra uses for its consumer mobile broadband plans. Public IP's are only available on business grade services these days
Resetting Network settings... do you mean in the xbox... or somehow through the nighthawk.
sorry not too comp literate but am learning..
I have a buisness connection with telstra...
I cannot believe that a company like Telstra cannot have a simple fix for this....
They are like new car salesman... spruik up the product but you are on your own after you drive out the gate....
Thankyou for your reply... gives me some hope I'll sort this problem out...
On the xbox. From what i remember you can do a reset of the network settings without having to reset the entire device
Have a chat with business sales/billing about extranet codes on your device. If you're eligible they can put codes on the device that bypasses the CGNAT and allows you to connect on public IP's
