Telstra OneDrive 200GB Bonus offer Technical Glitch

Answered

Attemped to redeem the OneDrive 200GB for free offer and I get this error:

 

"Microsoft was unable to set up your OneDrive bonus storage at this time. This may be due to a technical glitch so please try again."

 

Clicked the 'Try Again Button' and recieved the same message.

 

Waited 24 hours and tried again and  again. - same technical glitch message.

 

Is the system offline? 

 

Where do I go from here?

Seems to be fixed. Worked for me as well.

I have the same issue. Can't redeem. 

Was wondering once if that's a case of my Microsoft email not being the bigpond. However it clearly mentions in the Telstra offer website (https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/onedrive) that it is redeemed into your exising Microsoft account.

 

However, trying to redeem, I too consistently get the error "Microsoft was unable to set up your OneDrive bonus storage at this time. This may be due to a technical glitch so please try again"

I've been having the same problem since Monday.  Have spent over 3 hrs with technical support over the phone since Tues.  At first the techo's didn't believe me until I gave them the link.  Late yesterday evening one of them had to vpn me to see for themselves before believing the issue I had.  But still cant help. they said they'll escalate the issue to a so called specialist am waiting for that answer.

 

Earlier today went into the Telstra shop on George St near Wynard, the guys there said to wait another week as they've had heaps of people coming in with the same issue.

I too have been trying the offer for the past 24 hours and repeatedly get the message:

Microsoft was unable to set up your OneDrive bonus storage at this time. It may be a technical glitch so please try again.

Hope it is fixed soon.

Exactly the same issue for me, very disappointing as I was hoping to get this up and running ASAP.

 

No response on here from Telstra Support is a little disappointing.

Same error here too. Been trying for 2 days. Created a new Microsoft account but still get the error "Microsoft was unable to set up your OneDrive bonus storage at this time. This may be due to a technical glitch so please try again."

That's no good. As per https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/broadband/manage/storage-and-using-onedrive-cloud you can receive sign-up support via Microsoft OneDrive Support directly

I have the same problem.  I am on the helpdesk chat with MS and they suggest that telstra provide a product key seeing the link is not working.  is this possible??

So, its not just me. Thanks to all for sharing your poor experience.

A week later…tried again. No joy, still the same ‘technical glitch’ error. Humph!

 

My husband had success redeeming the offer with his Postpaid Mobile Account about a month ago.

 

I on the other hand have a Prepaid Mobile Account with zero credit so I’m not sure if problem is just for Telstra Prepaid My Account.

 

Can someone confirm if the error occurs with their Postpaid Mobile My Account so the tech guys can narrow down the cause?

 

Also, in my observation, the `technical glitch’ URL has the redemption code on the end. -  I could be wrong in my assumption.

 

Manually entering the code in the OneDrive Portal fails with error `There’s a problem with the code. Make sure you entered the code correctly`.  Either the code is invalid or incorrectly formatted, I mean the positioning of the dashes. Don’t have a valid code to compare.

 

PS: Please don’t refer (fob off) us to Microsoft for troubleshooting. Your offer, your problem.  We can only provide you with our experience to assist you in fixing the issue.

 

Hope its fixed soon.

I can't get mine either. Mine doesn't have this message though mine says this number is already in use. Don't understand. Please help

I redeemed with an existing onedrive account and it gets stuck at 5Gb which is the 'free' amoun that onedrive provides. 

 

Apparently its a known issue at Telstra, but nothing is being done. Spent HOURS and HOURS on the phone getting punted from one person to the next. Even to the point where they said i should just try and google the answer. 

Telstra even pointed me to microsofts support and then they pointed me back to Telstra. 

It seems to be a new service which they aren't skilled up on at all to resolve.

I'm sorry tom hear that there have been issues with the Microsoft OneDrive Offer and do apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused you Smiley Sad You have mentioned that you were using this service before the Offer of the 200GB storage was redeemed. At any point were you receiving the 200GB storage via this service?

 

With the previous subscription was this part of the free storage of 15GB that was being provided and has now changed to the 5GB allowance for storage? If so then it would be that the Microsoft service is still picking up on the old subscription and having this stopped at the 5GB allowance. 

 

Our support is limited to having the subscription completed and anything further from there with the account will have to be raised with Microsoft Support as advised at:

Please do let us know how you do get on having this raised with this team?

I have a business account. Signed up for the 1tera byte bonus offer, yet was only given 200gb on onedrive when activated this plan inclusion.

 

Can someone please updrage my onedrive account to be 1tb.

This has been happening to me for a month now!! Still no progress from Telstra they simply said it is a Microsoft issue and to contact them who then in turn said it was a Telstra issue... Meanwhile I'm missing out on the deal! I was told today that if I was eligible which I am I would have received an email to redeem but I didn't so I'm thinking that Telstra hasn't released or accepted that my account is eligible which inturn is telling Microsoft not to give me the deal! Either way I've now sent it to TIO for reviewing 🙄

Still an issue here also , been a week now of wasted phone calls to Telstra and being hand balled, its a shame we are sold a service that isn't what it was supposed to be.

 

A lot of investigating and no resolutions.

I am having same issue.  I created new account as instructed, confirmed the account and can connect to the account but cant access the 200G as I get the same error as everyone else.  Checked my onedrive account and capacity shows as 5G.  Seems like this is unlikely to change.  I was thinking that maybe the onedrive account should be created with a valid bigpond email address but cant log into email to check this Smiley Sad

thanks for the response to my post letting me know that the problem which seems to be affecting many many customers is a known issue t Telstra are working towards a resolution.  Whilst I appreciate you are unable to provide a resolution time I would appreciate some sort of confirmation when the issue is fixed.

Just a confirmation from another OneDrive user having problems - and I use a bigpond address as my MS account ID.

OneDrive is up and running on my computer (& up to date) with default 5GB storage. So I went to the https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/onedrive page and used the redeem offer button - took me to the MyAccount login and I logged in.

Then I had to authorise Telstra to access my OneDrive account for the purposes of adding/removing storage quota - I agreed to this and the https://account.live.com/consent/Manage page now shows:
You've given Telstra access to the following information:
Add or remove bonus storage
Telstra will be able to add bonus storage to your account. It will also be able to remove this storage (but no other storage), at any point in time.
You last used Telstra today.

However after "checking your account" I get the message:
Microsoft was unable to set up your OneDrive bonus storage at this time. This may be due to a technical glitch so please try again.

Repeated tries give the same result.

Unfortunately @bigpond.com addresses cannot be registered with Microsoft at this time. We suggest using an alternate email address that you use regularly such as Gmail™, or Hotmail

That isn't a solution as I tried a non bigpond email address and it didn't work.  I was actually thinking I needed to use a bigpond related address to access the deal but that is not the case.

 

I'm gratified that Telstra are now assuming responsibility of the issue but just wonder how hard this is to fix!

Sorry but the reply was totally inappropriate and quite frankly gives me no confidence in Telstras ability to resolve this issue. One can only wonder just how committed Telstra are to fixing this as surely it can't be that difficult.  I looked at the link and it is a general how to overview of OneDrive and nothing to do with the issue to hand.  I have already stated that I have created a non bigpond account and even have the drive mapped on my iMac! Please give some thought to future replies and ensure these replies are relevant to the issue!

For what it's worth, I am getting the same error. Looks like this problem goes back to April 2016 (?). Look forward to seeing it resolved ASAP.

Thanks for the completely unhelpful tips. I am eligible I have a mobile account with you on a plan. I never mentioned bigpond but am using gmail.

I keep getting an error "Microsoft was unable to set up your OneDrive bonus storage at this time. This may be due to a technical glitch so please try again.". Why do you advertise something you can not provide? A glitch I can understand although as this has not worked since April last year I do believe this would fall under false advertising. Do you have any plans to offer this or is it time to take this to a higher power?

Given this issue dates back to April 2016 you have to really wonder about Telstra commitment to actually fixing this. I called Telstra telephone support (before joining this Crowd Support conversation) to speak about this in particular to confirm whether I needed to use a bigpond email address or not.  The support person was unable to answer y question and consulted with a collegue and basically said that they believed, their words not mine, that this was a Telstra SCAM.  How damning is that.  I assured his that it was a legitamate Telstra offer but now I thing they were right.  If it looks like a SCAM it probably is.  Nothing I have read on this forum has given me any confidence whatsoever that this is ever likely to work.  The level of support here is substandard with stock answers being rolled some having no relevance to the issue.

 

I am going to formally log a fault report on this issue and I will do all that I can to get it escalated, or expose it for what it appears to be. I encourage others feeling the frustration to do so also.

I have been trying to redeem since December. Always the so called technical glitch error message. Telstra says it is Microsoft. Microsoft say noooo see Telstra because the issue is the account isn't verified when it progresses hence the glitch... So.... HELP PLEASE. Thanks

Telstra should take this offer off their primary website until it is resolved.

Being almost 2 years to resolve is a disgrace especially as the offer is being actively promoted.

Hi Contacted someone from Telstra yesterday, they told me maybe the offer has expired thats why it's not working to activate my free 200gb OneDrive offer and they maybe forgot to take it off there website and she will need to investigate more about this problem I am having, she said she would call me back later that day, but I did not get a call back, I called today again this afternoon somehow I keep getting connected to billing not support team and for some weird strange reason no one knows what is Microsoft OneDrive is which I find it very strange.

I'm having exactly the same issue. Called the customer service team as well as talked to live chat a few times. No real solution so far. Telstra could be considered cheating customers when the webpage clearly says the promotion is still on.

 

Anyway I'll wait a couple of days more before filing a formal complaint
